About the Chef

Raised in upstate New York, my passion for cooking started at an early age. Strong family ties brought us around the dinner table often. I always enjoyed helping pull and prepare the vegetables from the garden. What made the meal even better was the fun conversation.

My father's career brought us to North Carolina in the early 1980's, just in time for the NC State Wolfpack basketball championship - turning me into a fan immediately! (Being a big sports fan overall, I have been fortunate to cook for several sporting events for the Wolfpack, Carolina Hurricanes, and Durham Bulls.)

After learning at a few smaller restaurants and working my way up, becoming the Executive Chef at then new Embassy Suites Crabtree really launched my career. Knowledge gained from the facets of hotels and restaurants in my first 10 years allowed me to pursue a path in country club kitchens for the next 10 years. The mixing of sports or special events and food escalated my passion to the next level. I discovered that the pleasure of interacting with who I was cooking for was what I enjoyed most.

After working at several of the top country cubs in town and confined to the four walls of a restaurant kitchen, my love of cooking and desire to create a relationship with with those I was cooking for led me to start a personal chef service. With a little encouragement from family and friends and the gaining popularity of the somewhat new worldwide web, Favorite Chef was established in 2008. Searching for fresh, local ingredients, creating new recipes & cooking techniques, and meeting new people every day has truly enhanced my life. I have fallen in love our state - we have the best of both worlds with the Crystal Coast and Blue Ridge Mountains. Being centrally located in our capital allows me to reach out and connect with fellow foodies across NC.
